The Wallington Police Department presently under the direction of Police Director Anthony Benevento, has 23 Sworn Police Officers, 15 Special Police Officers, 12 School guards and one civilian Records/Secretary.
The Wallington Police Department Personnel are trained in CPR and as Defibrillator and Radar Operators, which are in all marked police vehicles.
We have nine Polish speaking Officers, two Firearms Officers, four Bicycle Officers, Eight Breathalyzer Officers and four Dare Officers which respond to all of our schools. We have two Officer Detective Bureau that has an excellent reputation for resolving Criminal and Non-Criminal Activity. Our Patrol Division does a “Park and Walk” program which interacts within our community outside of the patrol vehicle. Also many of our officers help in community activities by coaching, responding on trips with the schools as chaperones and just interact with our youth and senior citizens. All of our Police Officers believe as the director does, that they work for the residents of Wallington and their safety is of the utmost importance not only by apprehending criminals but by keeping our streets safe from reckless and dangerous drivers.
In an average year the Police Department responds to approximately 13,000 calls for service.
Our Police headquarters is located at 54 Union Blvd. and is open 24 hrs. a day. Every resident is welcome to come and see their Police headquarters, which has been revamped. Our Record Room is open Monday thru Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The Police Director has an open door policy and everyone is welcome to come and visit him with or without any type of problem. |
