Recycled Goods Information


NEWSPAPERS:
All newspapers should be tied/bound or placed in brown paper bags.  Shiny coated magazines of junk mail are to be tied/bundled or brown paper bagged separately.  Residential cardboard will be picked up on scheduled  recycling day commingled with magazines, junk mail and newspaper. Business and Commercial cardboard to be picked up weekly on scheduled recycling day.
DO NOT USE PLASTIC SHOPPING BAGS. 

GLASS CONTAINERS:
Clear and colored glass jars and bottles should be rinsed thoroughly and all caps removed and discarded in the garbage.  Place a minimum 5-gallon containers, NOT IN PLASTIC BAGS OR BROWN PAPER BAGS.  Absolutely NO light bulbs, mirrors, windows or ceramics (dishes and plates) are to be recycled. 

ALUMINUM/TIN CANS:
Rinse thoroughly.  Absolutely NO aerosol or paint cans. 

CARDBOARD:
Residential: Residential cardboard will be picked up on scheduled recycling day commingled with magazines, junk mail and newspapers. Business and Commercial: Cardboard to be picked up weekly on scheduled recycling day. 

CHRISTMAS TREES:
Will be picked up from December 28th, 2016 to February 1, 2017  at curb on recycling day. 

 
HOUSEHOLD BATTERIES:
Deposit in special orange containers which are located at Wallington High School, F.W. Gavlak School, Jefferson School, Most Sacred Heart School, JFK Library, Police Station and Civic Center. 

 
WHITE GOODS, FERROUS AND NON FERROUS METALS:
Curbside pick up by appointment on first Wednesday of each month.  Call Borough Clerk's office at 973-777-0318.  Freezers, Refrigerators and Air Conditioners must have certified sticker on appliance designating freon has been removed.  Hot Water Heaters must also have a sticker from the Building Department.  Long objects such as pipes should be cut in four-foot lengths; tied bundled and weight no to exceed 50 pounds. 

 
BRANCHES:
Picked up at curb on recycling day.  Tie bundles in lengths not more than four feet and no branch should be thicker than four inches in diameter.  Total bundle should not exceed twelve inches in diameter.  All of the above will be picked up every Wednesday beginning March 8th, 2017 until January 10, 2018

GRASS CLIPPINGS:
GRASS WILL BE PICKED UP EVERY WEDNESDAY BEGINNING MARCH 8th,2017 UNTIL JANUARY 10TH, 2018
Grass only to be placed in small garbage cans no larger that 30 gallons or in biodegradable bags not to exceed 50 pounds in weight.  Lawn mower that mulches recommended. 

LEAVES:
Leaves will be picked up every Wednesday beginning March 8, 2017  until January 10, 2018.  Leaves are to be placed in small garbage cans no larger that 30 gallons or in biodegradable bags not to exceed 50 pounds in weight.
